Helmut Pfleger was born June 8, 1943 in Czechoslovakia. He was a world class junior player by 1960. He tied for first in the West German Championship in 1963 and 1965. He became a grandmaster in 1975. He practices internal medicine and psychotherapy in Munich, Germany. He is also known for chess columns, chess books, and television coverage of chess. Bent Larsen was born March 4, 1935 in Denmark. He won the Danish Championship six times. He earned the grandmaster title in 1956. He was a candidate for the world championship in 1965, 1968, 1971, and 1977. He won three interzonal tournaments in 1964, 1967, and 1977. Nobody else has done that. He is also a chess writer. The following game between Pfleger and Larsen has a discussion of the opening, an English. The middle game struggle is next. If only the endgame had been shown, it would have been suitable for the category of "Endgame," but because the entire game is shown with analysis, I decided to place it in the category of "Opening Theory."
