Wesley So was born October 9, 1993. At the age of 14 years, 1 month, and 28 days he became an International Grandmaster (December 8, 2007). Only six players have done it at a younger age. In October 2008, he became the youngest player to ever be rated over 2600. In 2009, he won the Corus C with a score of 9.5/13. This was a point ahead of the field. In 2010, he advanced to the Corus B. He placed fourth with 7.5/13. 1.5 points behind the leader. During 2010, he is very likely to get his rating over 2700.
In the following game, he plays simple chess. When the opportunity arises for sound tactics, he displays the ability to capitalize on his chances. This game follows the principles of chess. White has the better chances due to playing according to the "laws" of chess. Black has a cramped position, does not break out of it, and allows the white squares to fall.
