Why is Bobby Fischer considered the best?

Gary Kasparov was much more consitent and achived a rating peek of 2851. While as Bobby Fischer was the youngest GM but wasnt world champion for a long time and once he was world chess champion he left and no one hear of him after wards. So i would like to know why everyone considers Bobby Fischer better then Gary Kasparov.
