The rules are designed to ensure a fun, safe, and respectful environment for all members.
1. Community Conduct (Applies to all club chats and forums)
Members are expected to be kind, helpful, and forgiving. The following actions are strictly prohibited:
Discrimination and Abuse: Do not abuse, attack, threaten, discriminate, harass, or mistreat other members in any way. Racism, sexism, bigotry, and violent threats are not tolerated.
Inappropriate Content: Do not post obscene or pornographic content, or publicly discuss illegal activities.
Spam and Advertising:
Do not post spam, advertisements, or copy/paste comments/messages.
Do not excessively promote your club in public forums. Club invites should be handled using the official Chess.com invite system.
Political/Religious Debate: Do not publicly debate religious or political topics.
Forum Misconduct: Do not hijack threads, troll, or post distracting or meaningless content.
2. Prohibited Club Types
Some club themes are not allowed and may result in the club being deactivated:
Clubs promoting discrimination (e.g., racism, sexism, bigotry).
Clubs that encourage or discuss illegal activities.
Clubs that promote or incite violence.
Clubs created to harass or target individuals or groups.
Dating Clubs.
3. Account Integrity & Fair Play
These are site-wide rules that apply to all members participating in club activities, especially games and matches:
Multiple Accounts: You are generally allowed a maximum of two accounts: one primary account and one anonymous account for training purposes only. Any other second accounts must be approved by Chess.com Support.
No Cheating (Fair Play): You must only play your own moves without assistance.
Do not use chess engines, software, bots, or any other tools to analyze positions during live play.
You may only use the Opening Explorer or other opening books in Daily Chess (not Live Chess).
Do not artificially manipulate ratings, matches, or game outcomes.
Public Accusations: Do not publicly accuse your club opponent or any other player of cheating. You must report them privately to the Chess.com Fair Play team.
4. Club Forums Moderation
While club forums are generally managed by the club's own Admin or Super Admin, they are still subject to the Community Policy.
Club admins/super admins can delete inappropriate posts.
If you are a member and see inappropriate content, you should report it to your club's admin or super admin.
Chess.com staff may take action on reported violations like hate speech, threatening personal attacks, or obscenity, even within a club's private forum.
