Hello,

I was wondering if we should maybe make a policy regarding timeouts. Timeouts are (I find) very annoying. They just give free points to our opponents, and, as long as we wish this club to be somewhat competitive we should try to limit these as much as possible. First of all, I never invite anyone with more than a 5% timeout rate, since it is not worth wasting our invites on people who might timeout frequently. However, I think we should make a decision regarding those already in the club who have been timing out. I have a few people in mind.

@Timotey23f - Has been with us for awhile, one of our first members I believe. However, he has also lost us quite a few games by timeout. This is evidenced by his win percentage in Chess Nerds matches which 11.1% won. He has played 36 games for us, and lost 32. Most of these were lost by timeout. Recently, I tried reaching out to him to ask why he was timing out so much, but I got no response.

@An_Eye_for_an_Eye - I am a little more suspicious about this one, since they seem to frequently lose one game in the match and play the other one out to completion. I wonder if this is a case of "sandbagging" or trying to play lower rated opponents by timing out in the half the games so that their rating remains low. However, one of our best players, ranked #7 on our leaderboard. Win rate of 38.8% and has played 58 games for us. I also reached out ot @An_Eye_for_an_Eye and got no response.

@lologreco - Has only timed out in one of our games (to the best of my knowledge.) And has a 40% win rate for us (only having played 5 games.) However, @lologreco does have a 46% timeout rate in the last 90 days on all of his daily games.

@manritogelaga - As far as I know has never timed out on any of our games. Is #12 on our leaderboard and has a win percentage of 75.0% for us. I only include him here since on his profile, his time out rate is 21.47% in the last 90 days.

In conclusion, what should be our general policy in regards to timeouts? Maybe one of us reaches out to those who timeout, and if repeated timeouts occur with no explanation they be removed? Or maybe we should be more lenient? What are your thoughts?

Also, more specifically, about those four cases I brought up. What do you two suggest should be done?
