Recently I've come across an idea about a regional league.

LCPAL (Live Chess Pan-American League) is going very well. I guess, with 14 teams or so ! Why not Asian League & European League ?

Match format: 3|2 Blitz

Asian League: Bangladesh, China, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Philippines and also Australia. Efforts can be made to bring India, Turkey into Live Chess

European League: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Italy ,Russia, Serbia, Ukraine (and other interested European teams)

*Though I'm not sure about African league. If some African teams (maybe Zimbabwe, South Africa) are interested, they might join Asian league and make it Afro-Asian League

Champion and Runner-up from all three leagues (Asian or Afro-Asian, European and LCPAL) might play against each other. But not against the same regional team. That means, European Champion won't play against European Runner-up in this league. So, 4 matches for each team. Another short league May be termed as, Champions League!

Though LCPAL is running with 5|2 format, the Champions League will be played on 3|2 format.

Champion of this league will be declared as World Champion

If teams of same region make tie on Champions League, there will be a tie-break match between them. Otherwise, tie will be solved by head-to-head match result.

I think, that'll be really very interesting.

I fully support the idea of LCWL and I'm okay with that. I just think, if teams are interested, such Regional Live Chess League can be arranged at the same time.

Advantage of regional league: Teams can play in their favourite times (except for Champions League)

Disadvantage of regional league: There might be slight miss-match in the number of boards. So, for the European league, 2 divisions are possible.

Division A: 20+ boards

Division B: 10+ boards

So, Division A champion will be European Champion or play against Division B champion

And of course, it is only possible for big teams like Russia, Ukraine, Iran or Kazakhstan to arrange such league tournaments. Why not make a combined effort !
