After being out of chess for 30 years, I got back to playing a couple of years ago, been watching Ginger GM on youtube, has really helped on my return.
Lately, I have been experiencing in increase in my ability to play chess. I attribute most of this to working the chess puzzles on Chess.com. The puzzles on Chess.com are excellent - anyone who is not doing them is missing out.
I have not thought of it as "activity" before, but I can see the logic behind the concept. Also, I have not thought of it much as "strong side, weak side", but I have thought of it as "Can't expand side X because it will expose my king", which probably translates to the weaker side. Thank-You for the feedback.
