For me, I like to think of the break moves differently (according to the file)

The central break moves (e4/d4/d5/e5)

The flank break move (c5/c4/f5/f4)

The counter break move (b5/b4/g4/g5)

The dangerous break move (h4/h5/a4/a5)

The Central break move

Central breaks are very important to beaware of in any given chess position cause it opens up the position. Opening up the position changes dynamics and can make Bishops stronger then knights, or a lead in develop lead to strong in initiative.

Central breaks either challenge your opponent's control over the centre, or open the position.
