Hi Nature Lovers Club members!

In the months of February and March we'll be running a project on the website/app iNaturalist. This project is for everyone in the club to document and share some of the wonderful plants and animals you see in your part of the world. Whether you're a seasoned wildlife photographer or you just want to record your sightings casually, this is the place to do it. As a bonus, you can contribute to citizen science and learn more about wildlife as you go.

Competition

We'll be announcing the winner of "best photograph", "most unique animal" and "most unique plant" at the end of March, each of which will receive a trophy here on Chess.com. Please only upload photos from after February 1st, 2024.

How to get started

Either go to https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/nature-lovers-chess-club in your browser or download the iNaturalist app on iOS or Android. After you've created an account (and verified your email), head to the project page and hit 'Join'.

Logging an observation

To log an observation, either press 'Upload' or 'New observation' where you can add images, audio recordings or just fill in the species that you saw. If you're unsure what you've photographed, AI is here to save the day! iNaturalist suggests species that it thinks your photo looks like. We're looking forward to seeing what some of you can capture, but remember not to deliberately disturb wildlife or put yourself at risk to get those snaps!
