Calling all members! I created a tournament to see if we could get some SM fun - Please sign-up! https://www.chess.com/tournament/smith-morra-a-daily-tourney-for-the-fun-of-it
Sorry the club has been so quiet lately, but all of the admins have been active in December so were not dead. If you need anything or want us to start a tournament for the group, just send us a personal message. Happy Holidays.
Since it is unfortunately dead here, I will do a Smith-Morra Gambit tournament in my club in the New Year. You are welcome to join this club anytime: https://www.chess.com/club/the-bookworm-club
Congratulations to @LPiedra on winning the last Smith-Morra Gambit Accepted tournament. Can we do another one? Or Perhaps a Smith-Morra Gambit Declined tournament?
Just posted a blogpost on a game of mine where my opponent used the Pin Defense and Perelsteyn's recommended refutation line: https://www.chess.com/blog/Ultraman81/smg-pin-defense
Btw I also have the pgn files for his proposed counters on the King's Gambit, Stafford Gambit, Albin Countergambit and Danish Gambit. Feel free to pm me if someone is interested.
I posted them in The Unsound Openers forum, as we have a dedicated forum topic on almost every SMG variation. But if somebody creates a forum topic here, I'd be happy to copy-paste the pgn.
If someone can post the lines that GM Perelshteyn suggests I'd be interested in a discussion. I don't have a diamond membership which is what is needed to be able to watch videos on this site.
GM Eugene Perelshteyn added the SMG to his lesson series on every gambit refuted. Maybe a good opportunity for a forum discussion on the lines he proposes? I didn't go through them yet but I will soon.
Guys, if you want a Vote Chess game, never pick random opponents. Half the time they time out and ruin the game. Better to directly challenge decent clubs that are used to continuous VC games.
