Everyone in the club championship (Paul, Andrew, Roger, Thomas, John and Daniel) has two emails, one explaining about the club championship, and two explaining about various ECF graded away friendlies that we are hoping to arrange against other chess clubs. In the club championship, a reminder it is up to yourself to arrange your own fixtures. Good luck everyone.
I just want to mention that Roger Grainger's e-mail has been hacked. I received an e-mail from him today asking me to purchase an Amazon e-gift card for him.
Thanks everybody who was there for the first online tournament, congrats to David on your win, and Dan in runner-up position. Hopefully see a few more there for the next tournament, which will be on Sunday 17th September
Hey everybody - an announcement, we will be starting a regular rapid tournament for our online members. We will start with a rapid tournament at 7.30pm on Sunday (3rd September). Will set it up initially as a 10/0 Swiss, 4 rounds - but we may revise for future events dependent on interest. Look forward to hopefully seeing you there on Sunday!
The game with us as white is here: https://www.chess.com/votechess/game/267305 and the game with us as black is here: https://www.chess.com/votechess/game/267301 There is a time limit of one move every two days. Good luck to us in both matches. I have already joined both matches.
In October 2021 we played and won against Paradise Chess Club 2-0. In July 2022 we played and drew against Team Netherlands 1-1, but I am pleased to say we won the coin toss! Then in March 2023 we played against Team Hungary - Magyar Sakkegyletand drew 1-1 but that won the coin toss. The semi-finals against 3 CHECK FUN have us playing one game as white against them and one as black.
Hello everyone. Just to update you all on the Vote Chess situation. In the end I decided it would be a bit too drastic to simply withdraw us from the competition and concede the virtual coin toss. We managed to win the virtual coin toss (again!) and are therefore now in the semi-finals of the season 20 competition. We are playing against a team called 3 CHECK FUN and the games have already being set up.
It is obviously frustrating that we lost on time. For the record as we both won 1 game each by timeout, it goes to a virtual coin toss. Should I just concede the virtual coin toss and withdraw us from the tournament.
I myself have been EXTREMELY busy with employment issues and other stressful things. The last thing I want to think about is voting in an online chess game right now.
I was wondering if I could help to update our website with new content such as games or news, or even the overall look of the site. And we should also think about advertising the site more to try and attract new members. Maybe something to add to next week's committee meeting.
