@DCMD2016 Several years chesscom provided $5,000 for a prize pool. Last year they provided $2,500. They will not be funding this event in the future. Some of us are still willing to organize an event; however, without a prize pool participartion will likely be far lower than previously.

@chuckmoulton - what drove bughouse championship funding in the past, and what would Chess.com need to see to bring it back?
I know we’re a sub-niche, but when I explain bughouse to newer or non-players, they get interested quickly, it’s a more accessible, engaging format. What metrics actually matter here (participation, viewership, etc.)?
