On the very day we bought our house in Melbourne Beach 25 years ago, to celebrate and anchor becoming a Floridian, I bought Miami Dolphin football tickets. Then I moved into the house, turned on the tv, and found we only got Jacksonville games, because we were 7 miles north of the Indian River-Brevard County line. South of that line got the Dolphins. Even though we’re closer to Tampa, most folks here seem to be Dolphins or Jags fans, suggesting an East Coast - West Coast Florida divide!

Sure. We’re straight across the state in Melbourne, and we’re Central. We, and you, certainly aren’t the South Florida Miami night club scene. And we’re not quite good ol’ boy Bubba enough for North Florida, although we do have Okeechobee and environs. We’re kinda a nice mix in the center.

Yes, this club is active. The Winter Open was just played this past weekend in Orlando. Big turnout. I play in Sebring on Wednesday nights.

All in Florida facing uncertainty but I do not worry about chess games at this point. Most importantly are human lives. All stay safe and hope for best.

I have 160 games and power may be going out Wednesday. Most of my games are even in points and I’m asking those opponents for draws, but very few are accepting. I only have 1.5 days of vacation. What a mess.
