I agree @Future3GM. Because I get stuck in the middlegame if I don't have a plan, how to navigate the position. I'm learning how to look at the imbalances in the position in the middlegame. Sometimes it is not clear. But I make an effort to look at the imbalances in the position.
Hard to say given the importance of the opening but many games are decided by a tactic in the middlegame. The most common tactics are forks and pins. So possibly some point in the middlegame when a fork or pin is executed, threatened or missed?
I believe it does help. I have found myself many a time making horrible moves simply because I got ahead of myself and moved quickly, not considering the whole board.
