I wish modern metal had more riffs and solos, Jacob Lizotte, and Clayton King are excellent with instrumental riff-focused metal I highly recommend them
Hi Paolo, despite the name, Metal is one of the most quiet chess teams there are. What kind of metal do you like? Black, death, power, sludge, stoner, atmospheric, jazz, rap, industrial, nu, djent, .. There are really a lot of styles once you start to think about it. Or more into the core style? Metalcore, deathcore, hardcore, mathcore, ...
Well the Melvins and especially Crowbar are among the founding fathers of sludge, so worh listening to along with e.g. Gurt nowadays. Postmetal artists I like are Amenra and The Ocean. But also Hippotraktor (who are also partly progressive). Good to start listening I think.
Blood Incantation is really great, never a disappointment; Defeated Sanity is not for me and Coffins is also nice and oldschool. Good suggestion there. I myself am more into sludge and postmetal in fact, but it never hurts to watch over the hedge....
Yes all fine bands. Gurt is also one of my preferences and Mastodon also has a more sludgier period. All music that can make me happy. I usually listen to it while I am going to work or working in the garden. In house it's difficult as my wife is a red hot chili peppers fan and my children are more following my wife's taste unfortunately
I am happiest with sludge and postmetal. Not too fast, repetition and long numbers. Ideal when you're nearly 60. And the old gods seems really old and sometimes soft compared to what is produced nowadays. I only miss the guitar solos which used to be the cherry on the cake.
