Perhaps a good way to handle this would be team matches against other clubs, like a few other people are saying. Maybe that could help create a more unified purpose for this club?
This comes with the caveat that local clubs usually take priority over online tournaments and I want to avoid conflicts with clubs as much as possible. Because there is totally a big element of OTB clubs that can't be replicated online
And yeah, I'm still thinking how best to organize club tournaments. Ideally I think the incentive for these tournaments would be competition against strong players from all across the state. So whether you live in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, or somewhere else, it would be a great opportunity to get games against players you wouldn't normally see at your local club
Personally, I am comforted by any theorem which establishes the non-existence of Lincoln by algebra and geometry simultaneously. While both algebraic proofs and geometric proofs exist separately when both raise their voices together--as the vibrant song of the meadowlark the summer sun ascending--the comfort of true Nebraskan urban man has a small warm core.
