Hey Guys (and gals),

Ready to get started? We've got 8 members now and that's enough to have a small tourney and get to know eachother.

What opening would you like to start with? We may need to decide on something like "let's study king-pawn openings first", then narrow down a couple king-pawns to do (one at a time I think would be best). Then move on to the next large category of openings.

Alternately, we could study the most common openings first.

Whatever you guys think - this group is created for all of us to take part in and decide how to use it to help us all out.

So, what would you like to start with? We can have a (quick) discussion and setup a tourney with the chosen opening and get started.

Also - what type of tourney rules do you like best? I prefer no vacation and absolutely no more than 3 days per move, with a preference of 1 or 2 days per move. I hate tourneys that drag out forever because someone doesn't move and they have all kinds of vacation time stacked up. What type of time controls do you like?

And what type of group sizes do you like? I think 8 should be about the max, so w/ only 8 in our group right now we'd all play either 1 or 2 games per other player at a time (I like 1 game per other player at a time myself). As we grow we may need a size of 6 players per grouping when we have 12 players, etc, but never more than 8 so we're not playing a whole slew of games all at one time. What's your preference?

One last thing - do you have any friends that you think would like to join up? If so, get them invited so we can go ahead and have them included in our first opening tourney.
