This Chess Club is a place where we will have a lot of fun chess activities. Also and most importantly we will be regularly holding tournaments.   1.What is the objective of the club? I am building this club to empower young children in the society through what I believe is the best game in the world chess. Chess is not only a board game, but is a miniature version of life itself. Many studies on chess show that chess improves creative thinking, creativity, and concentration skills in a person. Which in result improves  standardized test scores and as Dr. Gerard Dullea (1982) states: “. . . we have scientific support for what we have known all along--chess makes kids smarter!” (Chess Life, November, p. 16) 2.What are the activities involved? The activities involved include various things such as tournaments, lessons, chess problems, and videos pertaining to chess.   3.What is in it for us? Currently I have connected with the Raindrop Cultural Center, Pleasant View School, Memphis School of Excellence, Collierville Public Library, and Memphis Islamic Center regarding to this matter. The preceding locations have granted me permission to host rated tournaments in their facility. 4.What days will you host tournaments? I will be hosting tournaments every other friday between 6 and 8 pm. Other than these tournaments I will host a larger tournament every month on Saturdays or Sundays. 5.Do you have a website? I actually do have a website and here is the link: summitchessclub.com 6.Am I making money? I am not making any money from these tournaments because all profits received are donated to various charity funds and foundations. 7.Do I also offer individual coaching? I also offer individual coaching to any beginning player who wants to take his game to the next level. 8.Do people have to be rated to play? People do not have to be rated to play and after a certain number of games they will have a USCF rating. 9.Do people have to have USCF membership to participate in rated tournaments? Yes to become a rated player one must have USCF membership and thankfully it only costs 22 dollars for an entire year for one child.1888 N.
