About the game:

In this article, I will be talking about the rules of atomic chess II. Atomic chess is a chess variant and all the pieces move like normal.

Materials:

To play this game you will need 1 set of chess pieces and a chess board. You might also need 2 different colours of transparent counter to remember where you place your mines. You can not get hurt by your own mine so you need 2 colours.

Goal:

The goal of the game is to get 10 damage or more done to the enemy's king so it will die.

Basics:

The first thing you need to know is that each piece has a HP and the beginning of the game. When a pieces HP gets to zero, it dies and you take it off the board. The amount of HP a piece has at the beginning of the game is based on points. The queen has 9 HP at the beginning of the game. The bishop and knight both have 3 HP at the beginning, the rook has 5 HP, the pawn has 1 HP and finally, the king has 10 HP. A piece can never regain HP. Each piece also has an Attack Power. The Attack Power of your piece is the amount of HP it has left but the king has 0 attack power. The king can never lose attack power. If a piece loses HP, it also loses attack power.

Capturing:

Now we will talk about capturing. When the king captures a piece, damage is done to him. The amount of damage done is the amount of HP the piece that got killed had before getting attacked. If you capture a piece, then it is dead no matter what if the king is not the piece. If you capture the king, then you will do damage and its HP will decrease. The amount its HP will decrease by is the amount of attack power that the piece trying to kill the king had. The piece trying to capture the king but did not kill it completely will die. You have 2 options when you capture. In the newer versions that I made, you have 5 options. Your 2 options are chain reaction or place some mines. if you chain react, you need to take your attack power into consideration. If your attack power is 3, then you can choose to do 3 damage to a piece that is beside your piece after you took. If your attack power is very high, then you will kill a piece and move on to the piece diagonal or beside the piece that got killed by chain reaction. If you choose to place some mines, the number of mines that you can place are based on your attack power. If your attack power is 1 or 2, then you can only place 1 mine. If your attack power is 3 or 4, then you can place two mines. If your attack power is 5, 6, or 7, you can place 4 mines. If your attack power is 8 or 9, you can place 5 mines. The amount of damage each mine does is the amount of attack power your piece had. After you chain react or place some mines, your piece will automatically die.
