When I was younger, I was taught that a "generation" was roughly 25 years long - or, about the average age when people have ("generate") their first child and give birth to the next generation. At that pace, there would be about 4 generations in a century.

Now I know the exact number of years to a generation is not set in stone anywhere - but anyone else notice how lately the concept of the generation is shrinking?

I was watching an entertaiment show the other day and the reporter spoke of two actresses from two different generations acting in the same movie.... one was 30, the other was 19.... that's only 11 years! I screamed at the tv (as some of us old codgers do, lol)... and I have been noticing this shrinking of the idea of the generation more and more wherever I turn.... 16 year olds thinking they are of a different generation from their 10 year old sibling, for example.

Madness.

Now - is this marketing? westernisation? a changing of the times? or something else? What do you all think???
