In boot camp we did a lot of marching. I still don't know why. Luckily (?) it was discovered I had experience so was gifted the job of teaching a few country boys left from right. This included how to tie their shoes properly for inspection.

Some never had laced shoes and how in hell they reached 18 not knowing left from right is a mystery.

I was partly successful. The failures got to spend inspection parades cleaning toilets instead of marching with us. Which is surprising because some never had those either.

Anyway....

How did left and right get to be used to define political ideology?

The left is right more often than the right. The right more often left school early and are hardly ever right about anything.

The left isn't good at math considering their fixation that the rich have enough money to pay for everything the left thinks is important. If you took ALL the money from the rich there'd be nothing left. There'd also be no rich left, whether left or right. So who's money would be left to spend?

I had no chores left today so I came right here with these thoughts.
