To be fair, I did suggest that line simply because a russian guy shared quite a lengthy video about this line(It's all in russian, I can't understand a word) in another VC game, however the opponent played 3...c5 instead. And besides, this e5-e6 push is somewhat thematic against the Advance Caro-Kann to shut down Black's kingside if he plays ...fxe6. However, theory recommends that Black should decline this gambit with 6...Qd6!? 7.exf7+ Bxf7 when he's supposedly doing fine.

@Seeker_Of_Truth I believe you were the one suggesting that line in the first place. Any thoughts, lines or your own games you could share in the forum topic?

I started a forum topic on that weird Caro-Kann game we're playing although it doesn't seem to have a name. Once our VC is over we can add that one too.

Two New Vote Chess Games
We have two new vote chess games and two in process right now. We are in a tough pickle in one of our ongoing games, and I think are holding our own in the 2nd - but now we can start anew with these two games and hopefully come out ahead. Please join in here:

Remember to discuss suggested moves and don't vote for a move that has not been discussed.

2015 TUO Championship
To celebrate the 2nd anniversary of "The Unsound Openers", on April 11th, 2015, we'll start our second TUO championship.
After prisonbreak6 got a hold of the 2013 TUO Championship trophy, other players became eager to take revenge and make an attempt at getting this most-wanted cup in their trophy case. Here is your chance!
If you want the cup, you need to win. But if you want the respect that comes along with being The Unsound Openers Champion, make sure you open your games with all dodgy...

Team Match against Spartan Warriors
We have challenged Spartan Warriors to a team match from a standard position. Let's go push those Spartans into the sea with our gambits and offbeat lines! Best of luck team!

King's Gambit tournament
The Unsound Openers present their King's Gambit tournament. All TUO members are invited, as well as some members of groups we consider our friends. (The Gambit Players and King's Gambit Players)
Accept or decline the King's Gambit anyway you want, but we wouldn't be The Unsound Openers if we didn't encourage to try-out some dubious variations.
Good luck, have fun, and if you happen to play an interesting game with an "unsound" variation: please post in on our forums!
Note: if some people d...

Halloween horror (k)night
HALLOWEEN HORROR (K)NIGHT
The Halloween Gambit has been a success opening for our group so far. We won the 1900 TM standing is 9.5-4.5 with 3 more games to finish. Our VC opponent timed out on us however, which made us miss the chance to play this interesting gambit in team vote format. As it's almost Halloween Night (October 31st), we found ourself a new opponent ready to face us, JUICE: Vote Chess. Come join the fun, and let's see for which team it will turn out to be a horror (k)night on ...

Unsound versus Unusual
As many unsound openings are also unusual and vice versa, the group Unusual openings challenged us to a Team Match. They are smaller in number and (much) lower in rating, but they mostly see this challenge as an experience to learn and don't mind an uneven match.Advantages for them: See how better rated players play unsound/unusual openings and learn from the games.Advantages for us: Opportunity to finally try out some openings that are so unsound we don't usually dare to play them against ev...
