Trilogy Residents,

This Forum is a great way for Trilogy Knights to share their opinions on important club topics. I'll start the discussion by introducing myself and inviting other members to do the same if they are so inclined.

I'm Gene Adler of Trilogy at Vistancia, AZ, which is located in the desert foothills northwest of Phoenix. Back in 2012 I founded the Trilogy Chess Club in our community. We meet on Friday mornings every week to play both casual and tournament chess. We have regular round robin tournaments. We have about 25 active members; our average meeting attendance is about 12 (and 6 in the summer). The largest round robin tournament I directed for TCC had 27 people in four sections, based on rating (actual or estimated).

Our clubhouse is now closed until further notice, and I imagine yours is too in other Trilogy communities. Here's a quote from Dennis Doren of the International Correspondence Chess Federation:

“During this time of a world-wide pandemic, when so many things are temporarily closed and we are told to stay away from others for everyone’s safety, I find the normalcy of ICCF chess a great distraction, soothing, and fun. Hope you do too, and stay well."

Of course, this also applies to chess in general. To paraphrase the mission of the US Chess Federation, it is my hope that online chess and our little Trilogy Knights club will "empower people, enrich lives, and enhance Trilogy communities through chess".
