Join the Friends Uniting Against Mental Illness Chess Club – Where Every Move Matters

Welcome to the Friends Uniting Against Mental Illness Chess Club, a one-of-a-kind community where strategy meets support, and every member makes a meaningful difference.

Why We Exist

Mental health affects millions of people around the world, and no one should have to face it alone. Our mission is to spread positivity, raise awareness, and remind people that it's okay to reach out—whether to a friend, family member, counselor, online service, or any available support network.

We’re not just a chess club—we’re a supportive space where community, compassion, and connection are just as important as the game itself.

What We Do

While mental health is at the heart of everything we do, we are also a competitive and dynamic chess club, actively participating in:

  • Daily Matches

  • Vote Chess

  • And other engaging formats

We strive to create an environment where members can challenge each other, grow together, and exchange ideas in a safe and respectful setting.

Who Can Join

Because we take mental health seriously, we have a few safeguards in place to protect our members and maintain a healthy, positive space. To join, you must:

  • Have been a member of the site for at least 3 months

  • Have completed at least 10 rated daily games (live games do not count)

Once you're in, we ask for minimal, meaningful activity to keep the community engaged:

  • Play in at least one Daily Match or Vote Chess Match, or

  • Make one forum post per month

These simple requirements help us foster an active, welcoming, and supportive environment for everyone involved.

If you're passionate about chess and care about mental health—or even if you just want to be part of something bigger than yourself—we'd love to have you.

Join us, and let’s make every move count—on and off the board.
