The Philidor Defense or Black Lion has been in the arsenal of Najdorf, Nimzowitch, Larsen, Kosten, Azmaiparashvili, Seel, Bauer, Benjamen, Svidler, Bacrot, Malaniuk and many more. There are many ways of playing the Philidor, from the quiet to the wild.

If you would like to discuss or practice the Philidor with other fans, then ask to join our group.  All members are expected to do their share for the group.  The goal is to have a study group, rather than a classroom.
