S.H.I.P. is a chess club that uses educational theory in a structured learning environment to help chess players overcome common learning hurdles that are otherwise difficult or impossible to surpass alone. 

We use cooperative learning -- sometimes called collaborative learning – which humanity has proven useful for centuries. It’s a process whereby the total benefit is greater than the sum of each individual’s work. 1+1 mysteriously becomes 3.

You have probably heard of the expression, "If you want to go fast, go alone but if you want to go far, go together". At S.H.I.P. we create S.M.A.R.T. goals with a plan for making them real to you. With us, you will not struggle to learn, alone.

We have at least one national master who has agreed to help out in an advisory role.  

If you are intrigued, and willing to work, gather with like-minded individuals aboard S.H.I.P. at the port of the intrepid. You’re expected to pull your weight. Your peers will evaluate your effort.
