OK - we are formed as a group in celebration of the "Bishops Opining" but really, those of you who want to play better than 1300 - let's discuss legitimate openings. I mean openings that leave you in a good postion after four moves, not overexposed and on the way to a loss when playing other good players. My number one rule in chess is "take your opponent seriously". This means don't think that they will fall for a trick opening. Play them seriously. Here's an unimaginative, but very solid opening: The above opening is easy to play, allows white many great opportunities, leads to some exciting situations, and shows your opponent that you are taking them seriously. Showing respect, if you will. So???? What legitimate openings do you recommend?
