Happy International Chess Day to all! One of the oldest and the most popular games to date is Chess. It is a strategic board game that has two opponents playing on an eight-by-eight grid. Therefore, this game is promoted by observing International Chess Day. The day is celebrated annually to honour the game which is played across 178 countries.
Playing chess is the best pastime where the brain functions at its highest level. People of all ages enjoy this game, which helps in enhancing their IQ level. And it is believed that for the elderly it reduces the chance of Alzheimer’s disease, which helps in improving the art of decision making. When kids are introduced to these kinds of games, it boosts their brain functionality, increasing their problem-solving capacity.
International Chess Day was first celebrated in the year 1966. The global organisation for promoting chess is known as the International Chess Federation (FIDE), which was established in the year 1924 in Paris.
Later in the year 1966, FIDE commemorated the day of its anniversary as International Chess Day.
The brainchild for the celebration of this day was the United Nations General Assembly, which recommended World Chess Day as a global event on December 12, 2019.
And one of most beautiful thing which can melt your heart is that this wonderful game takes birth in India.
Chess doesn’t make people nervous, it keeps maniacs normal. Wishing Happy International chess day!!!
