I've noticed in my experience of Duolingo you learn Japanese EXTREMELY slow, I have also noticed Duolingo doesn't show you the hiragana alphabet and their sounds, sure Duolingo will help you learn it but there are just way too many better ways for you to learn Japanese.
In this forum you will find all 46 hiragana symbols, smooth, easy, and no needed hearts or energy to learn.
To make this process of learning faster I suggest writing down these characters, and try writing basic Japanese hiragana words with them, like "kon'nichiwa" or even names, maybe you could end up writing your own name in Japanese hiragana.
It becomes exceptionally easy when you've memorized these characters, and it's a lot faster than Duolingo.
Let's start.
The vowel sounds are:
あ (a) – “ah”
い (i) – “ee”
う (u) – “oo”
え (e) – “eh”
お (o) – “oh”
From there, consonants are paired with these vowels in a very consistent pattern.
The K sounds are:
か (ka), き (ki), く (ku), け (ke), こ (ko)
The S sounds are:
さ (sa), し (shi), す (su), せ (se), そ (so)
The T sounds are:
た (ta), ち (chi), つ (tsu), て (te), と (to)
The N sounds are:
な (na), に (ni), ぬ (nu), ね (ne), の (no)
The H sounds are:
は (ha), ひ (hi), ふ (fu), へ (he), ほ (ho)
The M sounds are:
ま (ma), み (mi), む (mu), め (me), も (mo)
The Y sounds are:
や (ya), ゆ (yu), よ (yo)
The R sounds (a light mix between R and L) are:
ら (ra), り (ri), る (ru), れ (re), ろ (ro)
The W sounds and final consonant are:
わ (wa), を (wo) (usually pronounced “oh”), and ん (n)
(There are a few extra characters but I'll leave them for later)
And if you're wondering, no I don't hate Duolingo, in fact I suggest you use Duolingo because it does help, just not as fast as you'd want it to.
I posted this forum to help you understand the basic Japanese hiragana symbols. It may help if you want to start writing in Japanese hiragana.
Thanks for reading this forum! Tell me if I should get into more advanced Japanese writings and words! Just remember that Japanese is just learn the writing, memorize the language, and memorize the extra details that I'll leave for another forum.
Good luck in your Japanese journey!
