Tourney Info: In an attempt to take a much needed break from correspondence chess, we will begin to play online standard games instead. We will have tournaments going every few weeks or so. Some of them may be a small 4 player double round robin or a much larger swiss system. Most of these tournaments will be played over the course of a few weeks. Games will have a time control of 30 minutes with a 2 second increment (Or possibly blitz time as we will get more people interested) and will be played in a rated match on chess.com. I will post on the group’s page when we are about to have a tournament. Unfortunately there is no snazzy interface for private standard tournaments on chess.com so just post on the group's page or message me if you would like to play in a tournament that I have posted about. Once everyone is signed up I will post pairings and you will have to get in contact with your opponent using the messaging system on Facebook or via text. Please do not try to arrange a time on the group page. Using Facebook messaging will minimize spam and it will be much appreciated. Once you and your opponent have decided on a time, please post it in the group page so that others may watch the match if they wish. If it is also at a convenient time for me or Elliott Ducharme, we may livestream the game and provide commentary if it has longer time controls. In order to prevent the players from listening in on the stream I will make a new stream address for each match and only send that address in a message to everyone in the group except those who are playing in the match. This will be much less of a time commitment than correspondence. This will allow you to take your matches more seriously and prepare more for your opponent if we decide on standard time controls. Opening preparation may also play a small part in blitz games as well. Please let me know if you have any questions about something that I haven’t covered already.
