My name is Jeanmarie Falco. Patrick Falco (pfalco17) is the player.
I bought the DGT Bluetooth & USB board for my 25-year-old son, an avid chess player. Due to spinal fusion surgery, he's unable to bend or move his neck, making it difficult for him to see a traditional chess board. He uses a power wheelchair and an adapted seat, which keeps him upright but limits his field of vision, causing blind spots and hidden pieces on a physical board.
He plays online chess without issues since he can position the computer screen directly in front of him. However, he loves playing in person at local clubs and tournaments. That's why I got him the DGT board – so he can play "live" while viewing the moves on a computer screen instead of the physical board. He's tested it, and it works well when he plays as White; he doesn't even need to look at the real board. He tells me his moves (like pawn to D4 or knight to C3), and I execute them on the board.
To make this a complete success for him, we need some help with a few issues:
Can the on-screen board be flipped so that when he plays as Black, the black pieces are at the bottom?
Can the on-screen board be enlarged?
Can the letters (A-H) and numbers (1-8) be made larger? (Currently, I've handwritten them on a sticky note and placed it on the screen.)
The board occasionally loses connection, and moves don't appear on the screen. I have to disconnect and reconnect the board to fix it.
These are the most pressing issues we're facing. I'd really appreciate the chance to connect via Zoom or Teams to share my screen and troubleshoot these problems.
I can send you a few pictures so you can see how uses the board.
