If there is one drawback with the News and Forum pages on chess.com is that it is very insular namely only members of specific chess.com clubs are able to access them. See here what the wider chess community, namely the popular English Chess Forum, think here: https://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=10773 If you come across any other sites that comment on the competition do post.
After the preliminary round one problem became apparent, how can players and captains be aware of games so that they can have an idea of progressive match score. It is unknown at time of writing what the solution is but it is possible for you to watch a Friend's game. The first thing of course to make them a friend! Then follow the instructions of the link below: https://support.chess.com/article/789-how-can-i-watch-a-game It is hoped that a Zoom discussion group will be set up so that players who have finished and others who have been invited can have chat's about their own games or those in progress when screens are shared!

The trial match highlighted one or two problems. The main one being how to make or accept challenge from a Friend who has a significant different rating. It must be remembered that the original rules asked that individuals play in 3 chess.com events in order to receive a grade. This condition was lifted so it must have been presumed that challenges could be made without fail. Unfortunately this was not the case as one u1825 and a Mx player involved in the combined counties match were unable to play due to rating difference. The rules really should have accounted for this possibility as it is one of the platform's functionalities. Notwithstanding should you find that you are unable to challenge a 'Friend' with a significantly different rating use this link https://support.chess.com/article/679-i-want-to-play-my-friend-but-it-says-my-rating-is-too-low-what-can-i-do
