I played in the 26th WCC in Los Angeles in early March, and it was a disappointing tourney for me. At 1797, I was 4 measly rating points away from my goal of breaking 1800 for the first time, and I could not get the job done, scoring 2.5/5 after losing my first two games. I should have lost my R3 game as well, since my junior opponent outplayed me in the opening, but she failed to see her tactical shots, I won a pawn, and then converted the rook ending below. The ending has a truly outrageous swindle that neither player saw during the game, and which I included for your entertainment and edification.
