Reducing the number of chess games you play may support the idea that fewer games could improve the quality of your moves. By focusing on enhancing your gameplay instead of the number of games, you aim to raise your current rating of 972. You've decided to cut down your active games from 68 to fewer than 30. This raises the question: could playing fewer games lead to increased accuracy and, consequently, improve your rating that has dropped from 1200 to 972?

Rogue waves : from maritime folklore to scientific fact For centuries, tales of enormous, unexpected waves were dismissed as mere sailor's yarns. However, the scientific community's perspective changed dramatically on New Year's Day 1995. On this date, a massive 26-meter (85-foot) wave struck an oil-drilling platform off the Norwegian coast, defying all existing wave models. This event, known as the Draupner wave, marked a turning point in our understanding of rogue waves. Since then, numerous rogue waves have been documented, including occurrences in lakes. Scientists define a rogue wave as any wave more than twice the height of surrounding waves. The impact and future of rogue waves While the Ucluelet and Draupner waves fortunately caused no severe damage, rogue waves pose significant threats to maritime operations, offshore structures, and even coastal communities. Some speculate that these monstrous waves may be responsible for unexplained shipwrecks and disappearances at sea.  The potential dangers of rogue waves are further compounded by the effects of climate change on our oceans. A 2020 study predicted that wave heights in the North Pacific are likely to increase due to global warming, suggesting that the Ucluelet wave's record may not stand for long. This alarming trend is part of a broader pattern of environmental changes affecting our planet, including :  ・The record-breaking size of the ozone hole ・Surging methane emissions exacerbating global warming ・Extreme heatwaves affecting various regions worldwide  The mammoth wave, now known as the Ucluelet wave, was captured by a solitary buoy near Vancouver Island. Its extraordinary height, equivalent to a four-story building, was nearly three times the size of surrounding waves. This remarkable disproportion is what truly sets the Ucluelet wave apart from its predecessors. Johannes Gemmrich, a physicist from the University of Victoria, emphasized the significance of this event : "Proportionally, the Ucluelet wave is likely the most extreme rogue wave ever recorded." He added that observations of rogue waves of this magnitude in high sea states are exceedingly rare. The Ucluelet wave's discovery highlights the importance of advanced monitoring systems in our oceans. MarineLabs, the research institute responsible for placing the buoy that detected the wave, aims to enhance marine safety through widespread coastal intelligence gathering Rogue waves : from maritime folklore to scientific fact For centuries, tales of enormous, unexpected waves were dismissed as mere sailor's yarns. colossal solar flare has erupted and is set to trigger disruption to electrical systems and unusually widespread Northern Lights displays. The flare erupted yesterday in the middle of the Sun’s visible surface, and follows a run of powerful space weather events which have caused radio blackouts in recent days. This triggered what’s known as a halo coronal mass ejection (CME), which sends a plume of plasma out of the Sun. The ejection is set to batter Earth with plasma and magnetic particles at around 4pm today, according to Spaceweather.com. Classed as an X9.0, the latest flare may be the most powerful one to have been released in the current solar cycle. Geomagnetic storms usually disrupt navigation systems, power grids and satellite communications. Fallout from another strong solar flare fired earlier this week caused a radio blackout over a huge area in the Pacific Ocean, including Hawaii. The Sun is currently at a high point of an 11-year cycle during which its activity rises and falls. As a result, the UK has seen more of the Northern Lights than usual in recent months – including dazzling displays as far south as Liverpool in May. Experts believe the recent activity could see fresh displays over parts of the UK over the next couple of nights. The phenomenon, also known as aurora borealis, is caused by the reaction of gases in the atmosphere with solar storms caused by events such as CMEs. Over the next couple of days, there’s a chance that we could be seeing the Northern Lights, particularly across northern parts of Scotland in the north of England and Northern Ireland,’ Krista Hammond, a space weather expert at the Met Office, told Sky News. ‘This is because there’s the potential to see the arrival of a geomagnetic storm.’

I've been fishing my entire life. I think I may have started before I could even walk. I also worked at Bass Pro Shops for a hot second. It was not the place I thought it was going to be, however... What I love about fishing is the same thing I love about hunting, accessing the great outdoors and being alone with my thoughts, while I strive to interact with the animals around me. And what's cool is how that interaction is being fostered by the powersports industry, as brands begin to cater to the outdoor hunting and fishing crowd like myself. This is how we get Kawasaki's new Ultra 160LX-S Angler jet ski, a dope-ass fishing rig that I really want to try out Additionally, the Ultra 160LX-S Angler comes with "specially designed side floats" that make the whole craft that much more stable, meaning you could be fighting a tuna or sturgeon (depending on your salinity) and still be able to land the monstrous fish. Moreover, a 22.5-degree deep-V hull offers further stability in rough water. Kawasaki also gave the Ultra 160LX-S Angler truly massive storage areas totalling some 44.5 gallons. That includes a fully sealed 32.8-gallon storage compartment, as well as a 10.6-gallon storage behind where the reverse lever usually is. Moreover, a 14.5-gallon cooler is also part of the package, meaning you could spend some serious time out in the field and on the water. To that end, a 21.1-gallon fuel tank will ensure any expedition is good to go. As for price, Kawasaki hasn't yet released the price of the Ultra 160LX-S Angler jet ski, but with all the kit, it's sure to cost a pretty penny. But given those specs, I'm sorta thinking it will be worth whatever Kawi asks. Because, honestly, as I've been writing this, I've been sorta losing my mind dreaming up all the possibilities that the Ultra 160LX-S Angler would empower. The most feverish of them all was the aforementioned trip to Alaska. I can picture setting off for a 10-day backcountry fishing/hunting expedition where I come back with enough salmon and caribou to last a year, plus the story of a lifetime as I make my way up some lonely river. Maybe there's a grizzly encounter? Maybe instead of caribou, it's a moose I pack out? Whatever the case, I really want to go on an adventure with this jet ski. . I been fishing since I was able fish as a lad of 10 yrs old and in California. There is easy access to fresh water lake or river fish. on top of that saltwater fishing big time. Anyone have a fishy tail to share about time getting wet !??
