Running Public themed tournaments is a big lift. I’m the only one who can currently create and edit events, so I need reliable folks helping in creative, flexible ways. If you're active and want to support the club, read on... 🤝 What Needs Doing – and Who Wants to Do It? In true Grand Tourneys fashion, we don’t believe in forcing “duties.” Instead, think of this like a medieval guild: everyone contributes their skills where they shine. Here are some things that help the club thrive. If any of these call to you, message me and let’s chat! 🧭 Tournament Scouts – People who can invite others to themed tournaments (especially in specific rating ranges) using individualized messages and targeted active players that I’ll provide.Also helpful: following tournament comments and replying to posts, and escalating any editing, starting, player, or invitation issues directly to me. 📣 Town Cryers – Members who like to post fun, helpful, or engaging things in our Club or GT Public forums—such as: Club: Leaving positive or funny club notes Writing or responding to announcements Creating or commenting in club forum threads Public: (Most Important) Best upset game recaps in a new public forum thread Copying club series announcements into public forum comments Congratulating winners in existing forum comment threads Posting congratulations for players moving to the next round in a new public thread 👑 Club Hosts – People who welcome new members, answer questions, and help others find tournaments they’d enjoy. 🧾 Membership Coordinators – Help track who's active, who’s new, and who might enjoy getting involved. I’ll provide tools and data—just need someone to help me make sure no one slips through the cracks. 📜 Idea Crafters – Got concepts for themed tournaments, forum events, or posts? Let’s build something fun together. ⚖️ Order of Integrity – Members who help review fair play concerns raised in tournaments. This team provides insight, gathers info, and flags suspicious behavior so we keep our games clean and enjoyable. 🛡️ Club Moderators – People who enjoy helping the club stay respectful and positive. You don’t need to do all of these—just one is enough to make a big difference. ⚖️ Official Fair Play Policy – Grand Tourneys Club To all members of the Grand Tourneys Club, We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and sportsmanship in all club events. As such, this serves as a formal notice regarding our policy on Fair Play violations. 📜 Definition of Fair Play Violation We fully adopt Chess.com’s official Fair Play Policy, which states: "Fair play includes playing without the use of outside assistance — including engines, databases, or advice from other players." Any violation of these rules, or attempts to manipulate ratings, games, or outcomes, is a serious offense and may result in restrictions or bans. Chess.com Official policy link:🔗 https://www.chess.com/legal/fair-play ❌ Enforcement and Penalties If a member is found to be in probable violation of the fair play policy—whether by internal review, member reports, or engine analysis—the following actions will be taken without exception: Immediate removal from all future Grand Tourneys tournaments Immediate removal from the Grand Tourneys Club In most cases, Chess.com will also issue a formal warning or account closure based on their own evaluation We do not negotiate fair play rulings, and we do not reinstate players removed under this policy. 🔎 Review Threshold We reserve the right to act independently of Chess.com when clear statistical evidence or behavioral patterns indicate misconduct. We have created a SusScanner and we scan players before the tournament starts. Although this is not proof of a fair play violation, we will not allow players to join a tourney if they are suspicious. 🔒 Privacy To protect all parties involved, we do not publicly disclose the names of players who are removed due to fair play concerns.We believe in addressing such matters discreetly and professionally. 🧩 Fair Play Strengthens our Club. ♟️ Grand Tourneys Themed Series FAQ ♟️ ⚔️ General Questions 1. When will this start?The tournament starts once the maximum of 9 players is reached after the official start date.🚫 Suspicious Play Warning 🚫 To ensure fair play, all players will be scanned to verify their integrity, before the start of play. Suspicious players will be removed. This is not an indication of a fair play violation. This designed to keep even tournament. 2. How many rounds are there in the tournament?You will play 1 or 2 rounds: After Round 1, one winner from each group advances to Round 2. All players in Round 2 place and receive a trophy. 🏆 3. Will I have enough time? You will play 4 or 8 total games. Round 1 exit: 4 games. Advance to Round 2: 8 games. You play 2 games at a time, requiring a minimum of 1 move per day. The 2-day time control provides flexibility.⚠️ No vacation time is allowed – ensure you can make consistent moves. 4. What is the format of the tournament? Hosted on Chess.com 2-day time control No vacation 9-player max per event Begins once full after official start date 5. Who is eligible to participate?Everyone!There are around 18 themed tournaments per series, with rating ranges for all skill levels. 6. How do I sign up for the tournament? Go to the Grand Tourneys tournament series page or the Public forum topic. Pick your daily rating range. Click Join on the tournament page. 7. What happens if my rating changes after I join a tournament?If your rating goes above or below the tournament’s set range after you’ve joined, don’t worry.The Tournament Director will be notified that the tournament is full but hasn’t started.At that point, I’ll adjust the rating range manually to allow you to remain eligible, and then start the tournament.✅ What matters is that your rating was within range at the time you joined.📈 Rating changes just mean you're an active player—they won’t disqualify you. 8. Chess.com won’t let me join. What do I do?Common reasons: ✅ Daily rating mismatch – Pick a tournament in your daily rating range. ✅ Tournament is full – Message me and I may create another one! ❌ Abandoned game % too high – You must have <40% abandoned daily games. ❗ Stale invites – If Chess.com thinks you ignored an invite, it may block your signup.Just message @AlAlper and I’ll send a fresh invite. 9. Is there an entry fee?No. It's completely free to enter. 🎉 🎯 Rules and Gameplay 10. What are the rules of the tournament?All standard Chess.com fair play rules apply.⚠️ Warning: If there is any suspicion of a fair play violation, we will attempt to contact the suspected player. We will review their games, and if it appears that a violation occurred, the suspected player will be banned from future Grand Tourneys events. This decision is at the sole discretion of the Admin Team. 11. What is the time control for the tournament?2 days per move for all games. 12. 🚫 Having Trouble Joining a Tournament on Android? (405 Error Fix) If you’re getting a 405 error when trying to join a tournament on the Chess.com app, here’s the fix: Open your Android web browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.). Log in to your Chess.com account from the browser. Click the tournament link from there and join. Once you’ve joined, you can return to the Chess.com app and play normally. ✅ This should solve the issue!
