When are tournaments? Please check the upcoming events on the club page. Can I join a tournament late or withdraw early?Yes. You join a tournament late by going to "Play" / "Play" in the sub-menu / "Tournaments" / "Watch" and find the event that you want to join. You will be given 0-point byes for rounds that you miss. You may also withdraw early, but please do not withdraw after getting paired with someone - it's not fair to make your opponents miss out on a rated match. Note that if you withdraw from a tournament early, chess.com may not consider your score for medals for 1st-3rd place. Are tournaments in the club rated? All tournaments in the club will be USCF-rated. I don't plan to host non-rated events, but if I do it will be specified that they are unrated. When will the tournaments be rated? At first I was rating them right away, but from now on I will be waiting at least 72 hours in case of fair play violations that arise. Probably this means I will be uploading them in batches once or twice a week. How do you deal with Fair Play issues, such as cheating? If you suspect fair play issues, please message me privately, and keep it between me and yourself. Ideally you would contact me as soon as possible during or following the tournament. I will take a look at the games in question, but primarily chess.com's algorithms will be the judge. Can you host a rated match between me and another player? If you meet the requirements I can probably include extra matches between players. However, it needs to be arranged with me first. The requirements are that both of you must have an established (not provisional) rating as of your latest monthly published rating, and they have to be within 400 points of each other in the time control that you want to play. It takes 26 games played to get a non-provisional rating, and then you will need to wait for it to be considered published by US chess. The only exception to these requirements is if you have a bye in a tournament and I agree to have you play a game against myself or another player. There may be times where I act as the house player in such situations, or allow another player to play, and any such matches will take place after the tournament is over.
