Dear Chess Friends!
Usually, amateurs prefer to simplify the position and exchange pieces, while professional players enjoy complicated positions with hanging pieces and tons of potential tactical strikes. Why? Such positions provide both players with a lot of opportunities and a stronger player is likely to demonstrate his tactical and calculation skills and win because of it.
I should also mention that much depends on the player’s style. If he is good in positional play, planning and understands the position well, he prefers a simple and closed position with almost no tactical ideas.
What about you? What type of positions do you prefer? As for me, I like sharp and complicated positions where both players have to pay attention to several places of action on the different sides of the board. And this is where you may face “Overloading” (overworking) when a defensive piece is given an additional defensive assignment which it can’t complete without abandoning its original defensive assignment. I often take advantage of this tactical motif and am going to teach you!
I’m glad to welcome you to the 65th webinar “How to Take Advantage of Overloading (Overworking) in Chess". I'll demonstrate the examples of overloading and explain how to recognize and take the advantage of it. And, of course, everything will be illustrated by GMs’ games.
Come to the webinar, learn about overloading and find this tactical strike in your games!
The webinar starts on Sunday (17th of January) at 9 a.m. (EST), 2 p.m. (GMT), 5 p.m. (Moscow time). This webinar is free.
