It was a successful event participated by 27 chess teams coming from the six provinces of Bicol Region. Engr. This big event is open to all chessplayers including Grandmasters, International Masters and National Masters. GM Darwin Laylo is invited to defend his title of 1ST MAYOR BERNABE CUP last year. Again, Mayor Bernabe shows his admiration of support to the game of chess which is also one of the sports program in the city of Paranaque. He instructed Adviser Benjo Bernabe and OIC Louie Perez of the Youth and Sports Development Office to successfully implement the project. This prestigious event is open to all chess players including grandmaster, international masters and national master wherein the prizes will be distributed as follows; Champion P 30,000, 2nd place P 20,000, 3rd place P 15,000, 4th place P 10,000, 5th place P 5,000 6th to 10th Placer P 3,000 each, 11th to 15th Placer P 2,000 each and 16th to 20th Placer P 1,000 each (Champion to 5th place will receive elegant Trophies and 6th to 20th place will receive copies of Pinoy Chess Magazine). CATEGORY WINNERS: Top Kiddy Open, Top Kiddy-Paranaque City, Top Senior Open, Top Senior –Paranaque City, Top Lady Open, Top Lady –Paranaque City. They will receive P 2,000 and Pinoy Chess Magazine each. A special award will be given to the Best Paranaque Player to receive P 3,000 plus trophy. The tournament format shall be played in Nine(9) Rounds Swiss System and will adapt the FIDE Rapid Play with an allotted time of 25 minutes per player to finish the game. Organized by the Youth and Sports Development Office in coordination with Barangay Don Bosco Chess Club. sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) and to be officiated by the National Association of Philippine Chess Arbiters, Inc.
