To: Sports Section Please 4TH LEG NCFP MANUEL RELORCASA AGE-GROUP CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP IN BDBCC-PARANAQUE CITY Another spectacular chess event for the youth is ready to unfold the 4thLEG NCFP DIRECTOR MANUEL RELORCASA AGE-GROUP CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP on September 26, 2009 10:00am at 4th Floor Perez Building, Dona Soledad cor. Australia Sts., Better Living, Parañaque City. The event is organized by Director Relorcasa in coordination with Bureau of Customs Chess Club (BOC) and Dr. Bong Perez, Adviser of Barangay Don Bosco Chess Club (BDBCC). This project of Atty. Relorcasa is part of his move to support the program of Sir Prospero " Butch" Pichay, President of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines. The first three legs went to Celebrity Sports Plaza-Quezon City, Makati Chess Club-Knights of Columbus, Bel-Air Makati City and Ugong Chess Club at Pasig City. Formally graced the opening and closing rites are DILG Regional Director Blandino Maceda, DepEd Regional Director Celedonio Layon, Jr., NM Efren Bagamasbad and Bicol Chess Association President Engr. Augustus Portem. The eventual win by Farmacia did a similar score of 11 points with Masbate but due to higher tie break the former received the award from the organizer. The split the 1-2 ranking getting P 20,000 each. Farmacia Team Members are: Bd 1-Jonathan Buere, Bd 2-Nazario Ubanan, Bd 3-Jun Camposano, Bd 4 - Jojo Buenafrancisca while the Masbate Province Team are Bd 1 – NM Angel Cordero, Bd 2 – Rommel Valdez, Bd 3 – Tino Laurio and Bd 4 – Nicasion Sison. It was a successful event participated by 27 chess teams coming from the six provinces of Bicol Region. Engr. Portem reiterated that this will be the beginning of organizing such events and cited that the Board of Bicol Chess Association-BCA will ponder the next move to organize another activity specifically for the youth and executives partners. In the sidelight activity, 27 participants attended the 9th Chess Trainers and Coaches Seminar held last September 12-13 at the Training Room of LCC Mall, Naga City. To: Sports Section Pls. 2ND MAYOR FLORENCIO BERNABE CUP PARANAQUE OPEN CHESS SET AUGUST 15-16 IN SM SUCAT An expectation of 300 participants will participate in the 2ND MAYOR FLORENCIO BERNABE CUP PARAŇAQUE OPEN CHESS to be held on August 15 & 16, 2009 10:00am at SM Sucat Activity Center, 3rd Floor Building B, Parañaque City. This big event is open to all chessplayers including Grandmasters, International Masters and National Masters. GM Darwin Laylo is invited to defend his title of 1ST MAYOR BERNABE CUP last year. Again, Mayor Bernabe shows his admiration of support to the game of chess which is also one of the sports program in the city of Paranaque. He instructed Adviser Benjo Bernabe and OIC Louie Perez of the Youth and Sports Development Office to successfully implement the project.
