This megathread is for all the press-related stuff we're going to have around to help pitch this club to potential new members. ^0^

WHOO HOOO!!!! Remove the Defender's chess portion of the tent is now live! Remove the Defender is not only active on Chess.com but also on Instagram, SoundCloud, and YouTube! The hopes in the near future is that we start doing these Club VS Club matches to incentivise ourselves to start playing online chess again!

@Kepu_3 https://excelsiorchessclub.ca/our-tournaments/gtcl-cup-2024/ This is the tournament I want to register my own team and participate in and I've already bought myself a special set of pieces so I can install DGT sensors in them. Side note: Good news for everyone is that it's only one day! YAY!!!! (cough) (cough) Anyway The plan is to not only gather members for this tourney coming up, but also start getting some activity going in this new team, which means, that even if there are people that are unable to make it to this particular tourney (even though we still need the people for this, I'll get to it in a bit), we are still going to find it very ideal to recruit as many members into our team as possible on both chess.com and lichess.org pages. This is because another goal we have in mind is to attempt setting up our own swiss stuff online and do other fun shenanigans on both sites. Now for the big stuff. According to the rules of team tourneys in general, it says that we are going to require four players (including myself) and a coach. Because we also want to print jerseys for this squad, each player is going to be required to pay ~$26 for each jersey (assuming the substitute and the coach would also buy one). For the coach we are probably going to have to look for either a National Master or someone in the LCC that has a rating of at least 2200. Not only are we going to have to try to look for the four players, we're probably going to need to get permission from the board of directors to post on the announcements saying that we're looking for members for this squad for the December tourney.

EVERYONE!!!! We need to get to Chess Improvement's Discord server to participate in the 10/0 Swiss tourney happening tomorrow! Get to it! >3<

I just found out that a lot of tournaments intervene if teammates are entering the same tourney and the team might not be okay with that or whatever so I'm going to address this quickly. Yes, we are hoping to register this team for OTB tournaments, BUT... We will probably face each other in scrims regularly and as we grow as a team we are also looking into in-clan Swiss rounds. That means even if members end up facing each other in either an OTB or Chess.com swiss event, the events can run just fine. We will probably have to get used to facing each other in games anyway.
