THE Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence (PACE) goes north on October 9-10 for the staging of the PACE-Tuguegarao Open Chess Festival By Noli Cruz There will be two sections in the event sponsored by the Compuserve Land Surveying Company of Engineers Abraham Cuaresma and A-Bee’z Express Travel and Tours of Ma. Theresa Cuaresma – the Open and the Kiddies. The Kiddies section is open to players born on or after 1996. The Cuaresma couple has a seven-year-old son Abel Isaac studying at the PACE school of chess in Quezon City. The P100,000 prize fund will be broken down to 20 places in each section. Cash prizes also await the category winners. The champion in the Open will get P20,000 and trophy while the winner in the Kiddies will take home P5,000 and trophy. Grandmaster Jayson Gonzales, the founding president of PACE, will also hold a chess clinic for beginners and a simultaneous exhibition against 40 players. “We are very happy to have Compuserve A-Bee’z Express Travel and Tours as partners in our mission to promote chess in the grassroots level,” said Gonzales. GM Eugene Torre and International Master Yves Rañola will also go up against 40 players each in separate simultaneous exhibitions on the first day of competition. “We’re hoping that the chess festival in Tuguegarao will just be a start of more chess festivals in the countryside,” said Torre. The event supported by the Philippine Tourism Authority, Department of Education Region 2 Director Benito Tumamao, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 2 Executive Director Red Benjamin T. Tumaliuan and Tuguegarao local government headed by Governor Alvaro Antonio, Vice Governor Leonides Fausto, Rep. Randy Ting and Mayor Delfin Ting will use the rapid format with a control time of 25 minutes per player. Lalo na sa chess board.he he.Anyway go go Wesley it's not the end of the world.

What do you think mga kababayan? Is chess a sport or a game? Why? Your opinion please

I learned to play chess by watching my friends play the game in the 1960s. naitigil ko lang ang paglalaro ko ng chess dahil I was studying and was in the movies, I was dancing the ballroom dance and playing basketball. Naituloy ko lang ang paglalaro ko ng chess more or less 10 years ago and I'm still learning the strategy of chess dahil napakababa nang rating ko sa chess. Thank you. How about you? I also posted this topic at the general forum.

Please introduce yourself to the team. Let me start to introduce myself to the team. My name is RAY DUQUE III. I was born in Pangasinan but grew up and studied in Metro Manila and migrated to New York City, USA in July 1970. I used to appear in the Philippine movies as a Bit Player actor in the 1960s. I like to Dance the Ballroom and Latin Dancing so much. When I was at the movies, I was at LVN Production. There were only three movie productions at that time. I was also studying and taking up BA in Accounting at the University of the East, playing basketball in school intramurals and tried out for the Varsity team and of course I was dancing my favorite and hobby ballroom dancing. I'm now retired Filipino-American living in New York City and enjoying my retirement. I visit the Philippines almost every year. You can visit my profile and homepage to see my short autobiography. Thank you to all. Ray Ray Duque III, New York City

brothers, we have created this forum for the voting on the number of players to play in a round: QUOTE the post made before you ... and add your vote below the column of your choice: Players per Round Region ------------------------- Team 4 5 ======= =======
can we not adopt the chess.com Team Match structure? (in reference to item #4 of forum " RP Chess League - Discussion of the Rules " ) advantages: a) the Team has a record of the Match Results ... since the results are recorded in the chess.com Team Match Leaderboard b) we have a solid basis for the RP Chess League scoreboard ... even if it is using a different scoring method c) easy tabulation/monitoring/cross-checking of RP Chess League scoreboard ... it would be easier for Team Captains/Co-Captains to submit results ... it would be easier for RP Chess League Staff to cross-check results Match Structure: 1.0 each Region creating its group/team 1.1 region name => Region _ Team Philippines 1.2 or if an existing Team Philippines sub-team plays for the Region, region name => Team Philippines sub-team name like in the case of CEBU Team Philippines ... playing for Region 7 2.0 each "Home" group/team sends the challenge 2.1 match name => Round 1 : Region _ Team _ vs Region _ Team _ 2.2 each Board plays 2 games ... 1 as white, 1 as black 2.3 each match is automatically recorded in Team Match Leaderboard
