Hi everyone, I thought of a very interesting chess variant that I would like to try out, when I have the time. I am just posting this, so I could keep a record of it.
Respawn Chess is like normal chess, but one player’s king has unlimited lives! When their king is checkmated, they get to place it somewhere else on the board to keep playing. The king can even be put in check as long as it’s not immediately checkmated or right next to the other king. If there’s nowhere safe to put the king, they can reset their pieces (to original positions via the original two rows, capturing the opponent's pieces except when the opposing king in one of these two rows meaning that they can not do reset), capture a piece by placing the king on it (not the opposing king), or resign.
The game tracks how many times this player respawns based on both players’ skill levels. The other player wins if they checkmate or stalemate before too many respawns happen. If the respawning player reaches their last allowed respawn, they automatically win that phase (meaning checkmating/stalemating the opponent's king). Time and normal draw rules still apply.
I tried to shorten this description as best as I could, if we get a chance to play this mode, then I could explain it to you during the game. Also, everything here is supposed to be unrated, regardless of time control (although please don't make it daily because I don't have enough time).
