ITALIAN GAME Italian game also known as the guico piano is one of the most common opening played these days. The Italian game is started with the king's pawn which is played commonly. Starting with the king's pawn,white fight's the best way he can by bringing out the pieces earlier and launching a full scale attack in the centre. For this ,white starts by first developing his king's knight and his king's bishop to the centre. The above moves represent the Italian game. The variations played in it is the classical guico piano which is played c3 instead of Nc3 which we play normally . The idea of c3 is to play d4 to drive away the black Bishopfrom c5 and bring thier c3 pawn to d4 and to develop thier Queen side knight to c3 and gain control over the centre which proves useful in the middle game.
