1 - Days/Move (Tournament Time Control)

Every time control is acceptable for someone, within limits. There will be fewer potential registrants for extreme tournaments.

It may be a challenge to fill a tournament of 1 day/move where there are 22 simultaneous games. Acceptable to 12 people  http://www.chess.com/tournament/speedmatch-viii

It may be a challenge to fill a tournament that is estimated to last four to eight years. Acceptable to 100 people  http://www.chess.com/tournament/slow-but-fast

Personal preference: 3 days/move.

- Allows players to go out for dinner, take a weekend off, deal with emergencies, other ...

- Timeouts or excessive delay are reduced.

- This time control could be preferred by the the largest pool of potential registrants.

This setting can be changed at any time, before the start of the tournament. Participants can become distressed when it is changed after they have joined as there is no warning unless the TD advises of the change.
