I could understand if it was a small team but not when you have 5000+ members

They can make so many of these matches so easily, it pushes them up the leaderboard...

I knew that was the reason.  It's almost as bad as playing games of chess against yourself to boost your rating

I disagree, Those in 1 player matches are still playing chess, and that is what we are here for.

And groups are designed to play team chess. Yes or no? How are 1 player matches team sport when you have over 5000 players?  That forces a lot of players out.

I do see where you are coming from.

Lets say you have a team with 100 players and you set up a match with another that has 100 too. Don't you think if you created a match with one player on each side the other 198 members will be upset by not having a chance to join?

This is what I mean. You could set matches up with specific ratings and have 1+ players then as many as want to play can join in.

This is why teams have big ones aswell as small ones.

And then it never starts?

But someone i know started a match after one player joined from one side each after 1 hour after it was announced because they wanted to play and did not give anybody a chance to join. You should give players a few days to join and if nobody wants to play then start it.
