Interested, but not now.
10 Min Vote Chess

being a reigional team all in one time zone, that is almost impossible.
I've played about 15, and they will usually last 15-hrs. to over a day.
do the math. 60 moves divided by 3 moves per hour = 20 hours.

Just to clarify, if I may...60 moves divided by 6 TOTAL MOVES per hour = 10 HOURS, not 20 hours, right? (certainly you're not inferring 60 moves per side, right?) Nonetheless, still not practical for a live team game I agree. Maybe a 2-3 min per side blitz type game would work better? I am a new member and would enjoy the team voting aspect in real time in this fashion. Based on the 60 moves example, that would be only 120-180 minutes or 2-3 hours vs.10. Much more realistic IMO. Could this idea be a viable option?

They used to offer 5 min
btw, 10 min for white to move, 10 for black = 20 min, and with lag, it usually is 2.5 move in an hour.
I've been in 5 with my own team this year, the shortest being 14 hrs! there was one the other day that went 37 hrs!

If you need a taste of it, maybe join a team that plays in the FSVL, and play a game with them. here's the link to the HQ group where all the admins and most of the players are:

Not discourageing it, but It is very tough for a new englander to make it through the night, and then possibly keep playing into the next day.
and anything less than 5 would make it impossible to discuss moves.

Hey Black, I'm not picking on you, REALLY NOT!
HOWEBER, (lol) Is it my math or yours?! 10 in/side into 60 minutes/hour = 6 moves/hour; 3 moves/side. YOU claim that with lag that 2.5 is the best you can hope for TOTAL?! (First, where do you get the .5???) Second, that would mean that 58% of the time, or 35 minutes would be LAG TIME ALONE?!?! SERIOUSLY?!
There are only 2 things that come to mind that could cause THAT KIND of disruption...
1. a HORRIBLY configured and/or inadequate server.
2. Individual TEAM members computers that need serious updating.
Even #2 is a stretch, if at all a factor due to not EVERY ONE HAVING to vote would not cause this kind of lag.
Can you PLEASE explain how I am wrong with my line of thinking and math here?
Beacuse frankly, I don't see it at all.
Thanks! ;)

when I say 2.5 I mean 3 for one side, 2 for the other, or 5 as you would say.
these games usually go 30+ moves EACH (60 as you would say) at the absolute minimum. OK, 60 divided by 5 equals 12 hours MINIMUM. out of any 5 games between 2 serious teams, I'd say one is usually 30-45, 3 are 45-60, and one is 60+ moves. That is for each of the 2 teams

OK, lol, so we aere basically saying the same thing.
I was computing on a PER GAME basis, where it appears that you were computing at a COMPLETE TOURNEY (5 game) basis, right?! Who says we have to play them ALL at once? Why not just schedule the 5 games on different days?

yes of course they're on different days, but to even survive the inevitable 50+ move (each ) game game would be very tough.

Just throwing it out there what if we were to play a regional team in the same time zone.
Team USA: Southeast
South Florida Chess
New Jersey Chess Team
are all options. That way we both are at the same disadvantage?

true, but I don't know that the other teams would want to play.
Playing someone in our own time zone just increases our chances of winnning by timeout.
What many people in the league are coming to realize is that if your own team is not in a position to handle playing, then joining a team that historically has handled the games well, and playing for them, can be just as fun.
Is anyone intersted in having a 10 Min Vote chess game. I have never played in one and they seem to be fun in theory. If there is enough interest, we can find a date and a team to play.
