I agree. But we definitely need a separate score for team 4 player chess. Who else thinks so too? Because it is different. Way more dynamic than singles 4 player chess. I don't want to lose my rating because some idiot doesn't know how to get his king to safety.

Yeah, it should have a separate score (eventually), but even so there's always the possibility of running into an idiot.  However, since you only have one partner and two opponents, so long as you're not the idiot, you've got twice as many chances to have an idiot on the other team than on your team, so in the long run, you'll do OK.

cannot meet parameters, need different analysis meh.png

If there is one idiot in a game and there is a 33% chance it is in your team, then that is a bad thing if you have a high rating and aim for over 66% win rate.

I don't like this way of thinking though since it discourages new players to try this variant.

oh, I'm not playing this anyway, as long as I can't read the chat wink.png

Have quickly discovered you are only as strong as your weakest link, set up a mate in 1 that i told my partner what to do and he still didnt do it

players should be paired primarily by rating, not by color. found that it can often be 1st and 3rd player in ranking vs 2nd and 4th, 400 ranking points makes a huge difference.

Also, /team should be the default setting, takes too long every time to add it, delete it if you want to talk to everyone

I am going to have start cancelling playing with partners that are 12xx. I keep telling them the right move in advance and they do stupid [language - MOD] anyway. Not worth the aggreivation.

Seriously, can we make it that you need to qualify to play teams by hitting 1400+, 1300 at a minimum, the terrible play I have seen from partners with low ratings has been just amazing to see. They should learn 4 player in singles, and if they can get a decent rating, start pairing with others, it definitely shouldn't be their learning ground at the expense of those that know how to play.

We have temporarily removed 2vs2 till we attain more players and can improve the mode significantly (play with a friend, separate leaderboards, etc) Thanks for understanding!

Sounds good to me happy.png

I enjoyed 2 vs 2, but I don't mind it being temporarily removed. Those are some features I look forward to.

MGleason

It's temporarily disabled.  See comment #29.

I don't understand the clock either.

1 minute + 15 seconds delay (a secondary pie timer is shown indicating how much delay is left)

the teams mode definitely needs the play with friends options. you could add that feature by introducing a party, where 2 players join to make a party and search a team game. that would the game more fun. and yeah of course add a system where the computer recognizes the ratings of every player and pairs them up appropriately.

Thanks and great game

interesting...

Is perhaps such a system already in place for the Bughouse variant? (I've never tried it, so I don't know)

MGleason

Yes, in bughouse you can partner with a specific person.

Nice, so maybe the bughouse devs could give a helping hand

2 vs 2 is a completely different game though, from both a practical and a theoretical point of view

please make people understand this, it's am tired of reading comments like "2 vs 2 would be more fair"... it's like playing Monopoly and saying "chess would be more fair"
