I'm going to shut up now and leave it to the folk in charge !!

Me too, but I'll say I've done some back-of-an-envelope sums and I think this year's title will be very close. All 3 contenders' remaining matches are very relevant.

Rule 10-b would be the decider if we have a 3-way tie as between the three teams we have 1 win each.

There are still 9 matches ongoing that will influence the outcome should Somerset get a result in their Gloucester match.

Avatar of matt1979

Yes it will all go down to part b of the rule, as stated above.

Somerset Wyvern have completed a 12-10 win over Gloucestershire to force a three way tie on match points with Leinster and Yorkshire. So it looks as though it will go down to part b of rule 10 which I think I'm right in saying should see Yorkshire and Somerset ahead of Leinster on points difference. They are level with each other at present with Yorkshire likely to take the title as they are able to improve their points difference  with more games to complete than Somerset.

Their opponents are also able to reduce their points different, of course wink.png Though all remaining Yorkshire boards do have a rating advantage, you never can tell.

Remaining Yorkshire games: vs Leinster, vs Sussex, vs Northern Knights.

I think Somerset's matches are all complete.

@matt1979, if games are still ongoing on 1st December, will they be judged and called and the title awarded? I know that's the case for promotion/relegation, just wondered if there was any scope for extending the deadline for title-defining games.

The tension. Better than vote counts across the pond.

Somerset should launch a legal challenge to stop the games.

"So there are so many, you see all these, these games.
They are trying to take away those games.
And now, you'll see that the oranges of these games, you all know.
The coffeffe will show how great it was.
The Illegal games, they need to be stopped right now.
Legal games, those that are winning. They should continue to be continued.
All these people trying to steal away the, you know, the games.
Make Yorkshire Great Again."

The title won’t be awarded until all the matches are complete.  No need for the December deadline as promotion/relegation isn’t affected.

I have updated the CC20 tables with today's results. There are now 5 on going matches which will effect win / loss calculation.

Avatar of Tricky_Dicky

I have also added a new column to Div 1 table for Rule 11-c (TO's).

This is going to be a damned close run thing. Hope the Prussians arrive in time.

Hey AJ Please don't suggest Somerset Wyvern have anything in common with Trump, even in jest !!

Also I think you're wrong about our matches being complete - we have three ongoing games with Hampshire.

Out of interest Somerset and Yorkshire are about to start another match, this time in the Europa League Final. As usual the match between these two rivals will be contested over a large number of boards - 25 at present.

Avatar of Tricky_Dicky

Think that's the fifth Somerset / Yorks match this year.

There are 12 games still in play that could effect points difference for the top three teams.

Deadline for relegation is Monday 30th November.  The admins of the county championship will look at the remaining games and make a judgement based on the positions, and declare which teams will go down based on the likely outcomes.   3 teams from Dorset, Staffs, Northern Knights and Renfrewshire will go down.  One will stay up.

In accordance with 2020 competition rules 7 & 8, an assessment has been made of the remaining games that affect relegation.
This was done using the Chess.com analysis board.
Games scores were judged >+0.5 win for white, -0.5 / +0.5 game drawn and <-0.5 win for black.

6 games left to decide the title by my count, 4 for Yorkshire (this match and this match), 2 for Somerset (this match).

The points difference is still exactly even on +63 each. Somerset currently edging it on time-outs.

No pressure to the remaining players...

Avatar of Greengooner

Thanks for the update, AJ, though I believe one of the four Yorkshire games has been completed. Looking at the various positions, Yorkshire look to be favourites but only by a smidgeon !

Avatar of aj-read

As @greengooner pointed out in notes, a reversed win against Somerset means that they are now at +65 points difference to Yorkshire's 64. Because of Somerset's advantage in timeouts, Yorkshire have to make up 2 points. It's still possible.
