@fourplayerchess you say just getting 1600+ in Self Partnering and you didn't tell me more about it. Does 1600+ is enough to qualify?
it's enough to be able to play in an Arena.

"Those candidates will qualify for Round 1 and play in any of the September 16 and 17 time slots (0:00, 12:00, 16:00, or 20:00 UTC) on a first come first serve basis. Only the top 1 will be guaranteed their first choice."
So the 8th ranked essentially get whatever time slot is left? Can you expand on what these sentences mean?
I find first come first serve awkward to be honest. From what I understand this could mean qualifying is the way to get the preferred time even if ranked top 8.
Yes, Rank #1 on leaderboard will take whichever of their choices they want first, #2 can pick anything except what #1 picks, #3 can pick anything except what #1 or #2 pick, etc. True this could potentially cause #8 to pick arenas over whatever remaining time is inconvenient for them. We can always fix going forward. For now we want a smooth Round 1.
So you mean the higher the rank, the more advantage you get to pick players of your choice. What if #1 decides to pick #3. Will #3 have any choice to pick their own opponent?
Leaderboard players don't face each other until Round 2.
Hi everyone! The 5-hour leaderboard update might manage to land around 22:42 UTC August 31. As far as I know, that could be the final leaderboard update before 00:00 UTC September 1.
I have decided, YES, players can have 1-2 chances to change their scheduled match time, after round 1. I am proposing the following:
Players that qualified for Round 2 will each have 2 "tokens" for the duration of the tournament.
One that proposes a reschedule must offer two rescheduled start times at once, at least one to prepone the match to up to two (2) days before and at least one to postpone the match up to eight (8) days after. Rescheduling start times costs the proposer one token and reschedule requests must be made 3 days (72 hours) before the reproposed start time.
Accepting a preponed match offer gives back the preponer one token and both parties spend no tokens. Accepting a postponed match offer costs the offerer one token and the accepter no tokens. Counter-offering costs one token to the counter-offerer and the counter-offerer’s reschedule request must be made within 24 hours of the . The counter-offerer must propose both a preponement and postponement match time. Accepting the preponement match time gives back both parties their tokens that would have otherwise been spent as long as the preponement match was agreed upon, more than 24 hours in advance of the proposed preponed match time. Accepting a postponement match time counter-offer will ultimately cost both players one token for that round.
If a rescheduled match takes place outside of the 2 days before to 8 days after timeframe, the player who originally requested the reschedule spends 2 tokens, and the other player, 1 token.
If two reschedule requests between both parties were received within 24 hours of each other and were received prior to the Tournament Director initiating a Reschedule ConnectChat between both parties, the second player to request a reschedule will be treated as the counter-offerer.
More details to add later.
Apologies that I am posting this very close to the start of the championship. Good luck all!

Due to the recent server issues, rating ranges for arenas have been open to ALL eligible players. "Rapid 1600+" deleted from post #1.
Arenas have been posted: https://www.chess.com/variants/tournaments Remember to wait until the start of the arena to click the Join button when the arena appears. Also, remember to unselect the Variants Symbol if the filter only shows the Variants Symbol boxed. Since this is a Self-Partner tournament, you should click "Join" and "Play Next Game" instead of the Invite Players sign, which is a 2v2 Teams thing.
Should the main server have issues that affect the tournament significantly, the Test Server will be in use. I will update the forums upon awareness of this issue.
Thank you all and best of luck!
I mean I get it; on the one hand, there aren't a lot of people, on the other hand, playing alts, not great
alternative accounts; slightly annoying to have people who are good play for "fun", if that makes sense
open rating range does look easy to abuse as is any good thing; still going to continue this tournament but can look into closing up next time.
Congratulations on qualifying @SenoPatiBN !
@Sarvesh_2111 has kindly volunteered to Referee Arena #2 in 10 hours!
