4pc teams 'take the blame' button

Does anyone think when you lose in teams, there should be a button that one of the partners could take the blame.

If they clicked the button, they would take the rating there partner has lost and lose it for themselves.

This would be so much better, as a lot of the time, you lose rating due to your partner resigning (due to having to go).

It would also be good so that one of the partners could admit it was there fault.

So an example would be if it was 2100 and 2200  v 1900 and 2400, the second team loses, due to the 1900 moving way to fast, and the 1900 thinks its themselves fault, and takes the blame, taking both ratings.

Also, if someone disconnects, and comes back after 30 minutes, the button should still be available.

Anyone think this will work?

Or is there a major issue?

no so does any1 actually think this is a good idea

I don't think it will work because the ratings will become inflated. However the idea is good, if you can make it work.

or maybe if at a certain rating it won't work. Like if the added up rating is like 9000 or something like that.

Hi Timalina,

I love the enthusiasm for the game, but I don't see how your proposal can be a workable solution to the unpredictable partner dynamic. If players were allowed to "take the blame," the lower rated player would always feel pressure to do so, leading to an inflation of ratings. Even if we allow this option solely for disconnections, there would still be potential for abuse (with the lower rated player purposefully disconnecting in a losing position). Lower-rated players already feel like they're under pressure to follow arrows blindly whenever they team with an unfamiliar higher-rated player. I fear that your proposal may add to the tension between partners of different skill levels. Trust me, I've had my fair share of problematic partners. There was even a time in my life when ~75+% of my losses were due to partner issues. However, to preserve the legitimacy of the current rating system, the higher-rated player must necessarily lose rating points after a loss. One suggestion the moderators may be able to implement would be to allow players to abort the game before making their first move without losing any rating (similar to live chess games). This would allow strong players to not lose any rating if they recognized a troublesome partner (without having to block them). Ultimately, if you wish to protect yourself from the dangers of a random partner assignment, you can always choose to self-team. I actually think self-partnering should be the default setup because there's simply no reason to have a partner (especially an inept one). If it were up to me, I would allow 2v1 in teams, where I play can play both sides against two players wishing to team. But that would be a logistical nightmare with the two separate rating systems coming together. Anyways, happy to discuss additional ideas to fix the lopsided partner dynamic, but I don't support a "take the blame" button as currently contemplated. Happy to hear others' thoughts. Just thought I'd chime in to this fun discussion.

I read more of that than I thought I would

what if we make it so that only the higher rated player could use it, or if there is like only a 100 rating gap, when both players can use it.
