I don't think 8.Be2 is a good move. I think I'll need a little time to get some good analysis.
My first impression is that 8...Nxe4 (threatening to play 9...Qf6) looks like black's best response. From here on, white's best choices might be:
- Blocking the f file with 9.Bf3. This move looks like white's best chouce to me, and both 9...Qf6 and 9...Qh4 should be looked at.
- Playing 9.Bd3, preparing to meet 9...Qf6 with 10.Qf3. However, I think that 9...Qh4! looks good for blackin this position because the g-pawn is "pinned" due to the threat of Bh3+.
- 9.Nc3 also deserves to be looked at a little more closer. I'll see what can I find there.
